Monochrome Factor Chapter 42

Phew. Finally.

Couldn't update for the past few days. Blame Blogger for not accessible when I planned to update!! Then it was weekends and I'm usually not free on weekends... And lastly I was forced into slavery, ok that's exaggerating.Then my sibling had some accident and went to visit Shisui, ok wait that not possible as well...

Scrap that, you don't have to know the lame excuses right? It's irrelevant to Monochorme Factor anyway.

Enjoy Monochrome Factor 42~ (Pleasepleasepleaseplease don't post the download link for the manga on other sites or rename the file and upload it somewhere... *very very sad face*, ok? But a link to my blog will be very much appreciated :3)

Translation problems:
In this chapter, Shirogane and Akira had a rather deep conversation which was pretty tough for me to put them in English. I'll list down the parts I had some difficulties in choosing the correct terms for a better understanding and making them into a proper sentence... Chines is very different from English in terms of the structure of the sentence, so I can't just translated everything directly because it won't make sense at all. Note that the ones in brackets are the direct translation of the Chinese version.

PAGE 13:
The part on the creation of Nanaya is a direct translation since I have no clue on the terms Shirogane used.

影子(shadow) 的('s) 傀儡(puppet) --〉literally, shadow's puppet.

是(is) 将(to) Kokuchi 物理(physically) 融合(bond/merge) 在(at) 肉(flesh) 体(body) 上(on)--> to merge the Kokuchi physically with the body.

用于(use for) 强化(strengthening/power-up) 的法术(spell/magic)。--> a spell(magic is too Harry Potter-ish, lol) used for strengthening/power-up.

As for the term 'creation', in Chinese '炼成' (from my knowledge which means 'transmutation') is a term used frequently in Fullmetal Alchemist. But...the term 'transmutation' doesn't seem appropriate in this (lol), I used 'creation' instead.

PAGE 17:
There are only 2 bubbles, but it's the toughest sentence I've ever came across, for now. The meaning wasn't very clear although it does make sense (but still very ambiguous in certain parts) after reading it for a few times...

是想说(trying to say) 自己(oneself) 那样犹犹豫豫(hesitating like that) 的烦恼着(fretting/troubling over)--> literally, 'are you trying to say, your hesitation in fretting over'.
But since this doesn't make much sense, or at least to me, so I modified into 'are you trying to say that because (a word in the next sentence indicates this word) of your hesitation in deciding(I personally feel that if I used 'fretting/troubling over' I would be wondering about 'over what?', and since it didn't mention 'what' he's fretting over, I scrapped them and used 'deciding' instead as it sounds like he couldn't make up his mind... Bleh... I'm brain dead, any other better replacement you can think of?)'

而让(to) 他(him) 陷入(fall/sink into) 冗长(long/very very long) 的痛苦(pain/agony) 是为(for) 他(his) 好(own good) 吗?-->it's best for him to fall into eternal (I used this since the term in Chinese means a very very long time with no indication of the end) pain?

PAGE 24:
I started reading Monochrome Factor with the Chinese version, so I have totally no clue on what Shiki's weapon, or specifically that thing he used in the end is called.So I've translated it directly...

影(shadow) 球(ball/sphere) -->; shadow sphere it is. :)

Suggestions for improvement are welcome~

Afterthoughts for this chappy:

Well, for me, I like the flashback about Ryuko's death scene, or seemingly Shirogane's remorse/guilt-stricken/sobbing scene. It seems to hint about Ryuko's death being related to Shirogane. And the flashback Shirogane experienced due to Akira's comment, it sounds like Ryuko suffered before he died...

And from their dialogues, it seems to be hinting that it could be Shirogane himself who ended Ryuko's life for suffering a pain worse than death (with the tears and remorseful look). But it seems unlikely to me, because Homurabi looks like the type who'd kill without thinking, he doesn't look like the torturous cat who'd toture the mouse until it dies... But Sorano-sensei wont be revealing the truth that soon, so it's just a guess.

Dying Ryuko, or possibly dead Ryuko is sad. ):

On the other hand, we finally get to see more of Shirogane's manliness, or cruelty/coldness as shown when he deals with sad Nanaya. Scary Shirogane = WIN. Mushy Shiro is a no no at all.

Preview:
Will I do Chapter 43 first or Chapter 47? Chapter 47 is very tempting to me without having to go through the hassle of editing the image... lol I won't be making out any promises anymore (urgh, I can feel the angry glares from Kurogane for not keeping them... *shivers*), but I'll do my best in translating the existing chapters before my Uni life starts around end of Feb...
