Shiki Chapter 31-32

Summary for Chapter 31-32:
With Chizuru executed in front of everyone, Toshio tries to talk everyone into counter-attacking the shikis. Little did he know, Shoujirou is hiding somewhere to make sure Toshio shuts up for good. His first attempt fails as Toshio is lucky that an old man (unfortunate for him though) blocks Shoujirou's bullet and dies in his place.

(Sorry, even with Gackt as his seiyuu, Schneizel Shoujirou's no match for Natsuno!!!)
As Shoujirou is going to have his second shot, Natusno takes him out, whatever happens to him later however remains unknown.

After helping herself with Seishin's blood as dinner, Sunako is informed of Chizuru's death and the villagers' plan. Sunako is shocked to hear that Toshio is out of Chizuru's control and suspects Toshio's blood was sucked by someone else before Chizuru for that to occur. Without any hesitation, Sunako orders Tatsumi to lead the shikis to attack the villagers before sun rise. As Sunako instructs Tatsumi to cut off the village's electricity and means of communication to the outside world, some villagers refuse to cooperate with feel that they can't kill off their family members/friends even if they're not humans anymore.

Meanwhile, Natsuno is waiting outside of Kaori's house watching over her father's movement. Kaori is trembling in fear upon hearing someone approaching the door and thinks it is Megumi who has come to gether 'so-called revenge' on Kaori.

She moves silently to the entrance (probably learned from some ninja movies) and hides there to ambush 'Megumi'.

But nope, it's her father instead of Megumi whom Kaori suspects to be when she uses the torch light to check out who it is. Feeling shocked, betrayed and terrified by the thought of her father hunting her, she bashes him before Mr. Tanaka can even respond.

(Uh-uh. Kaori in berserk mode is scary.)
Continuing from chapter 31, Kaori bashes her father's head until he was flat on the floor. Despite all the terrible bashing Kaori gives him, Mr. Tanaka couldn't die as his body regenerates faster than her deadly blows falls on him. Desperate to get rid of the monster before her, Kaori abandons her baseball bat and fetches a deadlier weapon and whacks a hole in his head.

When Kaori realises that her father is dead for good, she has a mental breakdown and drags and hides him to keep his corpse away from her sight. Before she could even recover from the trauma, she hears more footsteps and sees someone at the door.

Behold, it's Natsuno is shiki-mode!!! (Fabulous coat you have anyway!) Thinking that Natsuno has turned into the one of the bad shikis, Kaori falls into despair and finally collapses.

Although Kaori isn't his type, Natsuno is gentleman enough to stop her from falling down flat on her face while saying encouraging words to her (even though she can't hear him in that state).

Meanwhile, both Toshio's people and the shikis are preparing for an all out war to eliminate each other.

(Megumi is looking very sexy and glamorous here!!)
But Masao here is a disgusting coward, so he tries to escape and persuades Megumi to escape with him. But Megumi hates Masao and calls him a coward who doesn't even dare to escape alone and tries to drag her in so that he won't be the only one who'll be look down as a loser.

While here, Tohru is visting Ristuko who is being locked up in a cell with a living friend of hers (whom I can't remember the name). Ritsuko is suffering as she is currently under a blood-free diet even though Tatsumi abducted her nurse friend for her to enjoy but Ritsuko remains determined and even yells at her friend not to go near her.

Suzaku you're such a loser.
Tohru begs Ristuko to drink her friend's blood to satisfy her hunger, however Ritsuko tells him that she'll despise herself if she does her pride as a nurse will be tarnished. As Tohru cries in pain (it seems to implies that Tohru hates himself for killing others just to satisfy his hunger), Ritsuko can only wish to end her own life if living on means she needs to kill others.

As the clock ticks by, the shikis are on the move to defeat Toshio and his followers. So they start off with Toshio's house. Atsushi enters Toshio's house as instructed and took a cooking knife and his weapon from Toshio's kitchen. As he explores the dark house, he is discovered by Toshio's crazy mum. While Toshio's mother goes on ranting, Atsushi goes delusional and sees his dead grandmother (killed by him) and sees an illusion of his father charging at him with wooden stakes in his hands.

Terrified, Atsushi slashes that old lady with his knife and stabs her until she's dead. Before leaving the now empty house, Atsushi dabs his victim's blood on his finger and writes on the window pane, 'this woman can never be revived'. The end.

Thoughts:
Kaori is certainly the star of these two chapters (IMO). Yes, psychotic highschool girl in killer-mode is the best spice possible!! I'm really mesmerised by Fujisaki sensei's drawing. Particularly the scene where Kaori bashes her father in the head with that blank and yet crazed expression which I find funny but creepy at the same time!!

Of course, we can't forget our hero Natsuno!! He's just ass-kicking cool in his pyjamas coat attacking shikis and being the prince charming! Even though it is kinda cliche for him to be near-perfect being a 'wolfman' and having good looks and a not-too-shabby brain. But I need more Lelouch & Suzaku Natsuno& Tohru moment, just Natsuno himself isn't enough... xD

It was really breath-taking to read these 2 chapters in one shot (although I've read them separately with a gap of a month's time in between, I've reread it). Now, if only I can get my hands on the novel, or even find a translation of it... Bleh. Shiki is definitely entering its climax and I can't wait for the next chapter!!! I'm a bit worried for its anime since some friends of mine claim it was rather boring and slow... Hopefully the anime will catch up with the action part real soon!!!
