Pandora Hearts Chapter 59 - So Long Humpty Dumpty

*BRB from deniable mode after the jump*

Summary:

With Yura dead, Oz experiences deja vu from glimpses of Jack's memories of Alice's death. Amid the chaos, Both Vincent and the Baskervilles try to break the sealing stone. Even though Gil manages to stop Vincent in time remembering Break's warning, the Baskervilles are still able to destroy the sealing stone, leading to all the chains going berserk and chanting something about the Will of Abyss and the B-rabbit.

On the other hand, Humpty Dumpty attempts to persuade its main contractor, Elliot to forget about the painful memories as he always did. Through the eyes of the Humpty Dumpty's sub-contractor's chain, Elliot sees that Gil and the rest struggling against a horde of Humpty Dumptys. When Elliot recalls of what he said to a crying Oz, he finally snaps and declares that he won't allow Humpty Dumpty to mess with him by stabbing his hand. Vincent then appears and informs Elliot that by rejecting one's chain, he is rejecting its existence, hence killing the chain and the even Elliot himself.

Elliot's wound worsen as Humpty Dumpty is greatly weakend by both Elliot's rejection and attacks from Oz, who has started to fight back using Alice scythe stating that he will annihilate every single Humpty Dumpty.

Seeing that Elliot is dying anyway *sobs* Vincent tries to do Elliot a favour by letting him to decide by whose hands (Vincent or Oz) would Elliot wants to die by. Not wanting to hurt anyone, Elliot decides that he will end everything by himself since it was his sin (while bleeding here and there due to other Humpty Dumptys being wiped out by Oz).

To kill Humpty Dumpty once and for all,
Elliot boldly declares, 'Humpty Dumpty, I deny every part of you.'
*NOT THE DUMB FACE PLEASE.*

In an instant, all the Humpty Dumptys disappear with Elliot's denial.

Somehow, as the fragment of Humpty Dumpty fades away in his palm, Oz clenches his fist and remembers his promise with Elliot that both they will change the relationship between the Vesallius and the Nightray.

Afterthoughts:
I'm too lost for words. After all the Reim's death and revival roller coaster, we're thrown into a more heart-wrenching ride which shall bring us to a even crazier state.

Mochizuki-sensei played well with our minds. After tricking us into believing that Reim kicked the bucket giving many readers a free trip to Abyss, she miraculously revived him and made us glee at the miracle. Just when things can't seem to go any worse with Elliot's mum revealing her insanity and her ultimate death, we're slammed with the fact that Elliot's Humpty Dumpty core contractor and he's pretty much dead.

Perhaps Reim's death was sort of a test to see how readers react to character death, or even a trial to get the us used to' future characters' deaths (I must be joking). Break's dying too, who knows who else may kick the damned bucket too? Not only did Mochizuki-sensei prepared us for Elliot's death, she planned it out cleverly. The use of Humpty Dumpty as a chain should have implied that this chain is very very special, not just because it can have multiple contractor, but the fact the the fate of Humpty Dumpty was foretold by the nursery rhyme itself. It's been some time since a story has captured my interest like this, ever since I got trolled by Code Geass (now that's some serious mind-rape every week) and Tsubasa (which I somehow find myself not surprised by the plot twists in the end).

Pandora Hearts is seriously getting really awesome, in both its artwork and story. Sometimes, I find it difficult to see Pandora Hearts as a masterpiece of dark and cleverly-plotted story due to the false impression its very bright yet gorgeously-detailed art style gives. From its initial focus on 'searching for Alice's memories' to 'finding out Sabrie's tragedy' and our latest 'Jack's Body Treasure Hunt', the story unfolds itself with such impulse without leaving anyone behind its trail of wreckage. In someway, everyone is fitted in the puzzle with every character given his/her time to shine.

The story would probably be a bit bland and predictable if Elliot were to be the new Glen, since we already had an of idea how things would turned out based on Glen and Jack's story. By making Leo the new Glen, Mochizuki-sensei created a clever plot where Leo is also recognized as the new Glen instead of just the stereotypical master's-best-servant role to further complicate her already very complex story.

How will Oz react when he finds out he indirectly killed Elliot? What will Leo, feeling torn, guilty, devastated and frustrated, do the 'Glen-move'? (Heck, where the hell was he after Vincent appeared? Knocked out??) More Vincent please? I mean, with him being good for once... And yeah, I think it is so not cool to have Elliot revived... Unless he appears in the form of a chain... That might be sweet... T__________T
Urgh, I'm still too overwhelmed to think straight, April 18th please come now.
